Diamond bank gets colourful

So I went to my bank some days back and was greeted with a roll-up banner carrying a new logo, new wordmark and shortened brand name along with a new tagline-"your bank". What do you think?

Well, permit me to put my 2 kobo cents in. The colours are catchy and may seem like a new direction, but truth is they're actually based on the original colour palette as designed by brand union when they swooped in to refresh the bank's ailing image back  in the early 2000's if I'm not mistaken.

What has basically happened is an application of those colours to a slightly edited brandmark and a change (not particularly for the better) in the word mark. They did away with the 'diamond' square above the 'i' in diamond and settled for a more generic sans serif.

Also noticeable is the fact that the 'bank' has been dropped after 'diamond', emphasizing the brand name.  While i like the colours, i must admit that the previous logo with its monochrome style had a more corporate look and feel about it, and came alive with the application of the visual language and style as seen above and below.

This created a sense of balance, which was beautifully executed, so my fear is that if the new primary identity is so colourful, it might be overkill pairing it with such visual styles and hence become one big hot mess.  I hope they dont do away with the visuals for this reason, it would be a tragic error.
Well, seeing as nothing has been rolled out or officially unveiled save for the roll up banner i saw, I'll wait to see how this is handled and keep you posted. Oh! yeah, your opinion?
