and the WINNER is...

I'm sure its no news that Multichoice Nigeria held a logo design competition to celebrate its 20 years of existence a while back. Well, after a seemingly long wait and much debate with regard to its authenticity (what with the ABC logo competition debacle!?), a winner has finally, (and i believe, deservedly) emerged.

The nominees are...wait!...there are no nominess, (drum roll)...and the winner is.....(opening envelope).............(drum roll again).............Kanso Obk Ogbolu!! (crowd cheering hysterically, ...bcos they want there cut!!!)
As the grand prize winner and for his efforts he gets 1 million big ones!!! WELL DONE BOSS!!. And i say well done because the young man's work, whooped the arses of a mind boggling 17 000 designs...(mine(s) included) to come out on top.

For someone who just recently emerged a millionaire, the young chap is seemingly calm, he must be used to it...(i for don tear shirt!!)...fyi, he's the one on the left.

Well, i for one, await the runners up if my name go dey dat category..i sure could use half a million or 250 k and that dstv subcription (bills are killing) but while we wait, lets take a look at the winning design and have your thoughts on if it is deserving of one million awolowo's...bearing in mind that we are all winners(sobbing profusely at the fact that i lost).

in the words of IBK(winner of the don jazzy enigma competition a while back), TOAST TO THE WINNER!!!

I'd wear that!!

I'd use these.

the unveil!!!
While the design may not come off as mind-bogglingly good, its certainly a solid effort that literally showed its versatility (note to self: do pins and iphone mock ups the next time you enter a contest). Surprisingly it didn't have the multichoice nigeria logo embedded in the main art work, but more like supporting graphics at the side, a risky gamble that obviously paid off!! I also like the blend of the brand colours within the ribbony 20, very smooth gradient and well executed. All in all, its a good one, whether it deserved to win is a matter of opinion, and personally, experience has taught me to keep mine to myself...sometimes, but, to the skeptics, i will say this, "the race is NOT to the swift, nor the Battle to strong, but time and chance happeneth to them all..." ecclesiastes 9:11.

As grand as the winning design is, there were other designs i was privileged to view that i think showed forth much promise, but, alas were not chosen to collect that FAT PAYCHEQUE...(No literally, did you see the size of that thing?) Nonetheless, they deserve some degree of recognition and a proverbial 'pat on the back'. I have been fortunate enough to rustle some of such designs up for your visual consumption with the hope of showing forth just how much of a win Kanso Obk Ogbolu, had, and just how awesome designers in Nigeria really are and can be...Selah.
