DESIGN REVIEW: STYLISTA

Every now and then you come across a project that is just brash and colourful. This is NOT one of such. This transcends that. This is Stylista.

Designed by the Ukrainian 'Anabolic',  Stylista is a young peoples fashion retail brand (18-35 is what I'm guessing) that doesn't try to hard or too little but just is Novel. The dynamism of the geometry, boldness of colour and typeface let you know that the brand is not for the faint hearted fashionista and has no relation to the term 'boring'.

The project takes a new approach to what is usually mundane and familiar within the fashion retail industry. Its not too overtly haute couture but at the same time not too old navy or American apparel. It is just STYLISTA. True some elements of the project may seem familiar to designers like you and I, but the totally of it is very, very well done.

Some may argue that the grayscale photography is bland and not showing enough of what it is they are trying to sell, from a marketing stand point, and they may have a point, but I think the idea leaves something for the imagination, it allows you colour the clothes yourself and brings out the creativity in you. Plus pairing colours with an already colour heavy pattern would have been visual suicide.

The same vibrance seen in the project, is carried over to items as simple as hangers and tags, all so very heartwarming. The entirety of the identity system is so organized yet so random, you can feel the restraint and intent in the midst of what seems like an arbitrary array of shapes and colours and this is further proved on the suit cover bags where we see the pattern in a more linear arrangement. Its all very lovely for me.

Its clear that the identity is very engaging, with an ordered approach to something that has endless permutations. The stylista brand will always look lively and fun unlikely won't tire out, due to the fact that with a little more creativity and ingenuiety it can evolve into something even more beautiful than what we can see right now.
Cheers.
