DESIGN REVIEW: Bakes'n'Treats

As part of my mission, (since i have chosen to accept it) i will be posting reviews of brand design work by indigenous creatives from time to time along side that of our foreign counter parts. So here's our first ever design review for a home made brand called "Bakes 'n' Treats" by Evans Akanno design agency.

Now who doesn't love cupcakes, if you don't stop reading NOW!!. If you do, however, then you'll like the icon in this logo. Very simple, yet graphically strong. From the swirls of the icing on top to the cupcake paper cup at the bottom, you already know what these guys are about, add that to the colour palette and it comes off very nicely.
The typeface is what i'm not sooo crazy about, most especially for the tag line. The 'n' in the circle, kind of throws it off for me, but the cup cake saves the day. I would have liked a simpler typeface with the apostrophes having the orange accent as opposed to the encircled 'n'.
But still its a sensibly executed piece of work.

The Business cards are a little busy (pun intended) but still get the point of fluff across. The thick horizontal band of brown does not blend with the rest of the 'look' as it comes off as strong and rigid. The card underneath is a better approach and i wish they would have kept that feel, and oooh!! that type face!!.

The facebook page logo only goes to show how good the icon is all by itself. I like the chocolately droop in the background, but then it hits, the typeface!!...too clunky at the top right. Also i'm not so sure the beam stripes behind the 'droop' work well with it, maybe just vertical ones would have done, but, then again thats why these are my opinions.
A good effort by the evans akanno team, finely executed with a clean result, now, how do i get those cakes?...B'NG.
